In 2002 Jacob left the world of enterprise software development to form Gastronaut Studios. He has spent the time since indulging his passions for art, algorithims, and espresso as its chief designer, developer, and barista.

In 2004, Gastronaut’s first game, Fuzzee Fever, was launched to the original Xbox Live™ Arcade. Fuzzee Fever was the first Xbox Live™ Arcade game with Xbox Live™ Multiplayer and the first exclusive game to the new platform.

Following the release of Fuzzee Fever, Jacob has assembled a top-notch team of talented, well-rounded developers. This team of just four developers is now ready to show off their new game, Small Arms

Console Programmer

Gastronaut Studios is a small independent developer focused on developing top quality downloadable games for consoles. We offer the rare opportunity to be involved at all levels of design and development of hit games and shape the future of this young and growing company.

We’re looking for an experienced programmer who can help us drive our game technology further and write great games. Our fully buzz word compliant engine is developed entirely in-house, and is a joy to work with or on. Work will be split between leveraging existing properties on new platforms, and designing and implementing new original Gastronaut titles.

Qualifications:

  • 5+ years experience with C++
  • Worked as a programmer on at least one shipped console title or has impressive demos
  • Strong OO design skills
  • Knowledge of the programming skills involved in game production

Prefererred:

  • PS3 or Xbox360 development experience
  • Specialization in either artificial intelligence, physics or graphics programming

Gastronaut Studios is an independent game development company committed to producing fun, sociable games that are accessible to all gamers.

In 2004 Gastronaut Studios relocated from Capitol Hill, DC, to Capitol Hill, Seattle, where the coffee is better.

The studio completed its debut game in late 2004, Fuzzee Fever. Their second original title, Small Arms, was released in late 2006.  Gastronaut is hard at work on more.
